Onyx dance troupe was formed in October 2001 by myself (Joanne Hadley) and are based in Oldham.
Most of the Onyx girls (including myself for 18 years) came from a well established and rather large troupe which ended in Sept 2001 called Silchester Stars, they had tots, tines, juniors and for there last year two senior teams, 1 being the Richies All Stars who were all previous dancers of Silchester, these girls had all hung up there pumps but came back for Christine’s last year before retiring and moving to Spain after 30 years of running Silchester Stars (Lucky Monkey). I still speak to Christine all the time and although she loves it out there and the lovely weather I know she dearly misses the Troupe world.
With Silchester finishing I knew I still had to be involved in troupe in some way, I even considered being a judge for MCIAP, but my toes were still tapping so I decided to have a shot at running my own troupe. So in Oct 2001 Onyx was born. We are now running into our 6th year together as a senior team and new for 2007 we will have our very first tiny team.
